House David in Hamm an der Sieg. In the first land-registry map of the year 1834 one finds in corridor 7 “at the Winzwies” several sites/real-estate that belong to Jacob Hirsch from Koblenz (it is still to be proven that he came from Hamm ).
Around 1860 a new land-registry was prepared and the previously mentioned sites were added to site 1937/357.
This site shows next to a small building a larger home which is the one that today is called House David..
In 1848 the mentioned sites were registered in the name of Bernhard Baer and it is assumed that he built the house. In 1882/83, Bernhard Baer and his wife, Mrs. Amalie, nee Treidl were known as owner.
(not sure of this translation)
Bernhard Baer lived in Hamm from 1815 to 1879. Apparently his wife moved away after his death.
Some of their children lived outside Hamm. Presumably the house was sold.
Leopold David and his wife Jetta, born Baer, are the owners of the real estate in 1900.
Leopold David, 1864-1933, came from Oberpleis and married Jetta (1865-1938) in Hamm in 1891.
She was the daughter of Herz Baer.
Until 1937 the real estate was managed under this name and then later it expired (?).
In 1941 the property went into private hands.
Karl David (1895-1964), the son of Leopold David, married Irma Baer (1897-1962) in Hamm in 1922. This family reported for departure from Hamm in 1938 and immigrated to the U.S.
Apparently they stayed in their home until 1938.
[CORRECTION: Karl lived nearby; Heinrich lived in this house with his family until Kristallnacht.]
